Two Important Communication Skills
Two skills I believe are very important to embody when leading policy change would be to be sure your communication is correct and complete. Having correct communication means that whatever message you are trying to convey fits the audience that you are presenting too. When the communication is correct the language that is being used fits the audience. When a message is complete, the audience has all the information that they need to be educated on the issue at hand. Data, relevant research, and any other relevant information that is needed for the audience is included. When the audience has all the information they need, it will be easier for them to take a stance and will help them become effective advocates for the issue.
Area of Improvement
I need improvement with making sure that all the information that I have is complete. For things that I am really passionate about some information that is relevant I often leave off due to excitement and some information that is needed for the audience to know may deter them away. For example, I am a travel agent and a lot of people have inquired about being one. After giving them complete information about becoming a travel agent they usually back out after hearing the start up price and monthly fee. So now I sometimes tend to leave out the price when people inquire about. NOT A GOOD IDEA!!!
